Regional Transporation Authority

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) is a government-funded agency that provides ridesharing opportunities to residents living in the nine-county area surrounding Nashville, Tennessee. Created in 1988, the RTA exists to promote economic growth and improve air quality in Middle Tennessee.

 
 

 
 

Regional Bus Service

RTA provides operating costs for Route 96, the MTA bus route that exists between Nashville and Murfreesboro.

Carpool / Vanpool Matching

An environmentally-friendly commuting solution, carpooling allows riders to share gas costs and avoid wear-and-tear on personal vehicles.

RTA maintains a database of 100+ vanpools located throughout Middle Tennessee. To find a carpool or vanpool in your area, call 615.862.8833 or complete their online Rideshare Match Request form.

 
 

Music City Star

Nashville's first commuter rail, the Music City Star provides service for the 32-mile corridor between Lebanon and Nashville.

 
 

Jobs Access Partnerships

RTA has partnered with several local agencies to provide bus passes and lift-equipped vans to help low-income / disabled residents obtain access to job opportunities
